Talk It Out by Richard Humann is a drawing from a series exploring silent communication through American Sign Language. Each hand is drawn forming a specific letter, with the gestures arranged to spell the phrase “talk it out.”
By translating a familiar expression into the visual language of the hands, Humann explores the relationship between communication, gesture, and human connection. The phrase encourages the resolution of conflict through dialogue, while its expression through sign language emphasizes that communication extends beyond spoken words. The hands become both the medium and the message, transforming language into a physical expression of the need to communicate and understand one another.
